WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?
WHAT DOES A CONSULT ENTAIL?
Jessica will carefully listen to your concerns, health history & goals, & then discuss with you how her services may be able to assist you, performing relevant physical assessment & referring where required.
Jessica typically utilises a relatively gentle* approach to treatment, supporting the body’s own self-healing mechanisms, encouraging mobility, circulation & relaxation where possible. Jessica will offer guidance where needed as to how you can support and empower yourself along the way.
Jessica assists people across multiple age groups, infants to teens & adults of all ages for a wide variety of presentations.
Whilst most commonly known for assisting mums & bubs following difficult births, people seek Cranial Osteopathy for help with headaches, stress, vertigo, jaw ache, whiplash, shock or other trauma.
Osteopaths who undergo training in this field have an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy & physiology of the cranium, spine and nervous system and are trained to sense & assist the body's inner therapeutic power, called "Primary Respiration", discovered by W.G. Sutherland D.O, in the early 1900s.

A BIODYNAMIC APPROACH
The biodynamic approach of Cranial Osteopathy was developed by Dr James Jealous, whom Jessica had the honour of training with during her years in the USA.
This curriculum sees Osteopaths train over a number of years, moving through 9 phases to deepen & fine-tune the perception & sensory skills required to communicate & cooperate with the subtle dynamic therapeutic forces within the body. These forces, being the same intelligent forces that form the embryo, continue through life as forces of growth, development & healing.
There is a a strong focus on sensing the "whole person" (not separated into parts). It is very gentle* & is guided by your own body's intelligence.
* Whilst Jessica typically takes a gentle approach to Osteopathic treatment, and predominantly utilises a Cranial Osteopathic approach, she does use a range of other techniques depending on the individual's needs, such as Counter-strain, Functional, Visceral, Myo-fascial release & joint mobilisation. As with any manual therapy, there is the possibility of post-treatment soreness or other symptoms as the body responds and does its best to integrate changes. Advice on at-home management, lifestyle, stress management, nutrition, movement & rest may also be offered, that may assist your body's self adapting and healing capabilities.
PRINCIPLES OF OSTEOPATHY
Every person is a whole being of body, mind & spirit.
2. STRUCTURE & FUNCTION ARE INTER-RELATED:
Support the body and function may be improved or restored & vice-versa!
3. INNATE BODY INTELLIGENCE:
The body has self-healing, self-regulating, self adapting & self- protecting mechanisms.
4. OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT:
Is based on an understanding & appreciation of body unity, body structure (anatomy) & function (physiology) inter-connections,
the innate body intelligence & is tailored to the individual.
